How To Develop Websites Quickly and Easily

Written by Site Seller on September 24th, 2008

You’ve done your research on your niche, selected your keywords and purchased a domain name. The next step is to set up your website. Since you’re trying to maximize your profits in a short amount of time, you want to get this done as quickly, easily and most importantly cheaply as possible.

Your best bet is a content management system, or CMS. A CMS allows you to dynamically add information to your site and graphically make changes to the site’s layout. There are many choices for a CMS, such as Drupal or Plone, but the most popular is Wordpress. The reason for this is Wordpress is very easy to install and use, and it has a vibrant community offering themes and plugins that help beautify and extend functionality to your site. I recommend you use Wordpress, but I encourage you to research the popular CMS’ out there to find which would best fit your situation and style, since it is ultimately your site and you will be the one doing all the work here.

The next step is installing your CMS. Depending on your webhost, there are a couple ways of doing this.

  1. Manual Installation - The universal method is manual installation. Download the CMS of your choice from their website, and follow their instructions. This typically involves uncompressing your CMS and uploading it to your webhost via FTP software and setting up a relational database on the webhost server. Typically, these steps are not very difficult, but if you’re not technically inclined, they can be daunting. Fortunately, there is an even easier way.
  2. Automatic Installation - If your webhost uses cPanel, they may have software that can automatically install popular website scripts and CMS applications with a couple of clicks. That software, called Fantastico De Luxe, asks you a couple questions about your site, such as where you want to install it and your username for your site, and it handles all the rest.

Now that your CMS is installed, your next step is installing any plugins to extend functionality. The plugins you install have much to do with how you plan on monetizing your website. For example, if you’re using Wordpress as your CMS and you want to create an affiliate store, you may want to install the phpBay or Associate-o-Matic. For a membership site, you may consider integrating aMember with Wordpress. No matter the site, other plugins you should consider are All in One SEO Pack, MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer and Google XML Sitemaps. These last three can greatly help in generating traffic to your site.

Next, you should beautify your site. You can go all out and develop a custom template or hire someone else to, which to some may be a selling point to have a unique design, but you don’t have to. Many of the free templates out there look great and in the long run, it doesn’t really matter if the appearance is unique.

By now, your site should be ready to post your content, be it articles with adspace, an ebook, or an active membership site. The Equity Millions system has lots of good information on how to best monetize your site. Good luck and happy flipping.

New Equity Millions Blog - Equity Millions Re-Launch

Written by Site Seller on September 18th, 2008

Site Seller’s favorite website selling program, Equity Millions, has updated their blog in anticipation of a re-launch of the system. Even though is was only launched a couple months ago, Brian decided it was time to make some changes, since the world of internet marketing moves so quickly. Basically, though this means that the entire 30 video course will be redone and expanded upon. This also means that you should expect to see an new review once the updates are completed. All in all, it just show how well the system is put together and what type of support you should expect once you become a member.

The Importance of Traffic to a Website Seller

Written by Site Seller on September 16th, 2008

When it comes to websites, everyone knows that traffic=money. Now, you may be asking yourself, “why would someone who builds and sells websites be interested in traffic?” There’s a couple of answers to that question.

  1. Your customers, i.e. the people you’re selling websites to, care. They know that traffic=money, and they’re looking to make an investment.
  2. Just take a look at the Sitepoint Marketplace. Sites with proven revenue streams sell for lots of money. Through whatever means, they’ve figured out how to turn their traffic into money.

I’m not going to go into the ‘how’ of generating traffic or the best ways of monetizing traffic. There are hundreds of resources and products on both (including our favorite, the Equity Millions system), and will most likely be somewhat dependant on the target niche for the site.

Don’t get me worng, building turnkey websites can be a great way of getting your feet wet or for generating revenue for larger projects. As a professional, though, you should really be focusing your efforts on what your customers want, and they want traffic. Maximizing profits of your website sales of course means more money for you, with less effort. So even for someone who builds and sells websites, traffic=money.

Beware eBay Affiliates

Written by Site Seller on September 16th, 2008

Let this be a word to the wise, and a testimony that even professionals can get burned.

Lately, I had decided that it was about time that I churn out some niche stores. What better way to earn some quick money by selling a profitable niche store in order to seed larger projects. There are really 2 choices when it comes deciding on a partner for a niche store: Amazon and eBay. For my purposes and the niches I was trying to target, the eBay Partner Network seemed the right fit. With software packages such as Build a Niche Store (or BANS for short) and the phpBay Wordpress plugin, it would be extremely easy to get multiple sites up and making a profit, especially with the methods I learned from the Equity Millions system.

However, while I excitedly submitted my application and waited for a response, eBay purged some 300 affiliates from their program. No explanation, and only 7 day’s notice, with no option remedy the situation. A couple weeks later, I received a response. In the end, my application was denied. All that time and effort was wasted.

Or was it?

Since I was using the phpBay plugin for Wordpress so that I would have an integrated blog with my store, I noticed in the admin area a link to join the Pepperjam Network. I checked them out and noticed that they had a partnership with eBay. Through joining the Pepperjam Network, I could still become an eBay affiliate. My time and resources were not wasted after all. I could still set up my niche stores, and through the methods taught in the Equity Millions system, sell them for a nice profit.

Finding Websites that Sell

Written by Site Seller on September 16th, 2008

Market research for your website is in many ways easier than most other market research online. You can use traditional niche research methods, which does work, but it can be time consuming. It is simply easier to go to places where you list websites for sale, and emulate ones that have sold. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

One of the most obvious places to go is the Sitepoint Marketplace. If you’re starting out, it may be best to view the Startup Web Sites for Sale, though if you have some capital or are a bit more experienced, you could take a look at the Established Web Sites for Sale or Premium Web Sites for Sale. Though sometimes listings are taken down prematurely due to private sales, you may notice that the web sites that do sell through Sitepoint are “grayed out” when viewing the listings. Click on one of the “grayed out” listings. The higher the selling price, the better.

Another place you can do some research is at the Clickbank Marketplace. Select any categoy that interests you, and sort by High Gravity. Gravity, according to Clickbank, is a weighted score determined by the number of disticnct affiliates who have recieved a commission from referring a customer to the product. Take a look at any program or product with a gravity score of over 100.

Once you have found a site, your next step is to imitate it. I’m not advocating plagirism here, but try and match the layout and featues as closely as possible. Don’t be too concerned with truely unique content or the software involved. An open source CMS package like Wordpress or Joomla will do in most cases, and there are plenty of free themes and plugins available to dress up your site and add functionality.

All you need now is to add content. If it’s articles you need, there are many sites that list articles with reprint rights. If it’s a product such as an ebook, you can purchase a product with master resale rights and repackage it, or go to sites like GetAFreelancer.com and get something custom made. After that, all that’s left for you to do is list the site for sale on Sitepoint, or use some methods from the Equity Millions system and sell it for even more money. Not a member of Equity Millions? Review of the Equity Millions system

Written by Site Seller on September 15th, 2008

You will be shocked at the sticker price on this “Site Selling Cadillac” of a system. It’s not going to cost you anything near what it’s worth. Brian and Tyler, two ex-newbies that met at the Rich Jerk’s private forum, got together and started making thousands of dollars together building and selling web sites!

The course itself consists of approximately 30 easy to follow videos, and includes homework assignments at the end of each module to make sure you don’t get left behind.

The course itself is wonderful, but what really sets this system apart from the rest are the bonuses you get when you join.

Inside Equity Millions there is a fantastic forum, including a market place for members to buy and sell sites and services. A contest is held every 60 days, and the winner gets the opportunity to work on a site to sell with Brian. That site could potentially be worth THOUSANDS.

Monthly Site Selling Summits - Brian, and another internet marketing guru sit down and chat on the phone with their members to “guide them in the ways of virtual real estate.” Typically, each of them charge $1,000’s of dollars for phone coaching…You get BOTH OF THEM for a whole hour every single month when you’re an Equity Millions member.

They’ll teach you how you can build a list of less than 20 people TODAY and start pulling THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS from that tiny list. No more having to build a list of 50,000 people to make any money. They’ve mastered the art of building quality versus quantity, and before you know it, you’ll be sending one email per week as your job.

Bar none, this is the easiest system I’ve ever come across that can enable regular people to reach complete time and financial freedom. Like any wonderful thing, there is a narrow window of opportunity here, and they are only letting 300 people into the program. I suggest you act quickly to ensure a spot in this amazing program.
